During my various travels globally, I was introduced to the concept of home delivery from restaurants. Back then, this service was not being provided by establishments in Mumbai, except in nascent forms (through pizza delivery etc.). Long queues and indefinite wait at restaurants used to be a common phenomenon in Mumbai. Customers had to personally collect their food orders / take away, as home delivery was not provided. Seizing this opportunity, the idea - Meals on Wheels (MOW) was conceived.
On 13th October, 1997 MOW took to the roads of South Mumbai. During its inception, MOW provided service from 10 of your preferred restaurants. Over a period of time, the business mix has evolved and the preferentially selected is beyond 40 today. The selection has been based not only on various cuisines but pricing within similar cuisines. Service is also provided from a confectioner and you can now order imported cheese, meats and other food products, too. MOW provides you take away at the same price as the establishment. In fact you pay based on the restaurant bill, which is presented to you on delivery.
The advantage of using the MOW service is the sheer convenience of accessing all the establishments through a single telephone number. This is now being extended through the internet for online ordering - a need of the hour that MOW has promptly responded to. You will also now receive current updates regarding new establishments, changes in prices and special offers immediately through the website, ensuring that you are aware of the changes as and when they happen. You, of course, continue to have the option of calling MOW, as being done.
